NEW: Florida man charged with sexual battery on a child


A months-long investigation led to the arrest Thursday of a 40-year-old Stuart man on a charge of sexual battery on a child, city police announced Thursday.

Police say that Manuel Thomas Rios Jr.’s victim was under the age of 12. He also faces charges of aggravated battery, child abuse and committing lewd acts.

He was book into the Martin County Jail and his bond amount was set at $850,000.
