NEW: Delray Beach man injured in fatal car crash

A Delray Beach man sustained minor injuries in a Broward County crash that killed a man and has the driver facing a felony charge of failing to remain at the scene of a wreck involving a death, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Robby Sternberg, 30, did not have to go to the hospital following the crash early Wednesday along Interstate 95.

Authorities say Oakland Park resident Bradley Ruben, 32, was driving northbound on I-95 north of Commercial Boulevard when a Volkswagen GTI veered to the right shoulder, where Sternberg was there to tow a Ford Focus that was parked on the side of the highway, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

Ruben had consumed a marijuana-laced “edible,” according to FHP arrest records. His Volkswagen struck the Ford. North Bay Village resident Juan Pedro Garcia, 63, suffered serious injuries and later died at Broward North Hospital, according to the report.

Sternberg told authorities that Ruben remained on the scene for a few moments before fleeing, according to the report.
