JUST IN: Man pleads to lesser charges in Riviera Beach shooting

A 24-year-old man has pleaded guilty to lesser charges after police say he shot at a woman in Riviera Beach.

Timothy Patterson pleaded guilty to charges of shooting into a vehicle and being a felon in possession of a firearm before Palm Beach County Circuit Judge Joseph Marx on Monday. Patterson was originally arrested in June on attempted homicide charges.

Patterson was sentenced to 54 months — more than four years — in prison.

Riviera Beach police said Patterson, a city resident, and a woman were fighting. The woman told police he shot at her and her car, and he said she tried to run over him with the vehicle.
