FAU professor sues over traffic death of son, a lawyer

The father of a 27-year-old Boca Raton lawyer who was killed in a traffic accident on Northlake Boulevard in September has sued the driver of the other car involved in the crash.

In the lawsuit filed this week in Palm Beach County Circuit Court, the father of Elijah DeRosa, an associate with the Ovadia Law Group in Boca Raton, claims negligence claimed his son’s life.

Marshall DeRosa, a political science professor at Florida Atlantic University, is suing Tallahassee-area resident Todd Burns, the driver of a car that struck his son. DeRosa had pulled off the road to adjust cargo at the rear of his vehicle when he was struck and killed, the suit says. His father is seeking an unspecified amount in damages, according to the lawsuit filed by attorney Abraham Ovadia.
