Two people were killed in a crash in Greenacres on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.

A head-on crash last week killed two people in Greenacres, Palm Beach County sheriff’s authorities said Wednesday.

Francisco Cabello, 33, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet 2500 pickup Thursday afternoon west on 10th Avenue North toward Haverhill Road, near John I. Leonard High School. The Greenacres man was speeding, sheriff’s authorities said, and crossed into the eastbound lanes. He crashed head-on into a 2017 Mazda 3.

The Mazda rotated and hit a box truck that then sandwiched the Mazda between it and the Chevrolet.

The crash killed both Cabello and the Mazda driver, 49-year-old Dalia Jimenez Nieto.

A passenger in the box truck, Ronaldo Garcia, 46, sustained minor injuries. He and the driver Miguel Serra, 54, were wearing seat belts, as was Jimenez Nieto. Records indicate Cabello was not.

Authorities concluded Cabello caused the crash, meaning the investigation is closed due to his death.
