A gun was found in a Cholee Lake Elementary School student’s backpack Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018.

A gun was found Tuesday morning at Cholee Lake Elementary School in Greenacres, according to the Palm Beach County School District.

The student claimed to have found the gun on the way to the school on Dillman Road just east of Okeeheelee Park. The recorded call sent to parents indicated the gun was in the student’s backpack.

School authorities stressed that seriousness of having a gun at school and said the student may face serious disciplinary action, although it is unclear what that may entail.

This is at least the fourth gun-related incident in a Palm Beach County school in a month.

A Forest Hill High School student had a loaded handgun in his waistband Friday at school, according to authorities. The 17-year-old faces a charge of possessing a weapon at the West Palm Beach school.

A loaded gun was found Jan. 26 on a cabinet in a classroom during dismissal at William T. Dwyer High in Palm Beach Gardens. And last month a Boynton Beach middle school student was suspended after allegedly bringing a gun to school.
