NEW: Man, 66, dies in single-car crash in St. Lucie County


A man in Fort Pierce died on Friday night in a single-vehicle crash, city police said.

The crash happened at about 5:30 p.m. on the 3700 block of Okeechobee Road as Roger Odom, 66, was driving eastbound and crossed over into the westbound lanes. He struck a pole with his Chevrolet pickup truck and hit a palm tree, according to Fort Pierce Police.

St. Lucie County Fire Rescue officials took Odom to a local hospital where he died of unknown injuries.

Investigators are still determining the cause of the crash.
