BREAKING: One dead, another hurt after hit-and-run in West Palm


One person is dead and another in the hospital after they were hit by a car in downtown West Palm Beach that then sped away.

West Palm Beach Police Sgt. David Lefont said the car, described as a light colored Mercury Mariner SUV, headed southbound on Quadrille Blvd. after hitting the two people near Quadrille and Hibiscus Street at about 9:30 p.m. One adult died, while a second was taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition.

Police said the vehicle has damage to the front left fog lamp and possible damage to the turn signal. The vehicle was last seen driving west on Okeechobee Blvd.

Quadrille Blvd. and Hibiscus Street is just east of the popular City Place shops and restaurants in West Palm Beach.
