While it’s supposed to be a day of rest from work, the Labor Day holiday often involves working to find a last-chance bargain in stores.

For the fun of it, we decided to see what kind of deals were advertised in The Palm Beach Post on Labor Day 40 years ago — Sept. 5, 1977.
