Monday Night Football photos: When announcers were as colorful as game

When the Miami Dolphins play the Carolina Panthers tonight on Monday Night Football, all the action is likely to be on the field.

Many Monday Night announcers have come and gone (Tequesta’s Joe Namath was a color commentator in 1985), but there was nothing quite like the dream team of Cosell, Meredith and Gifford, as these photos from some of their glory night broadcasts in Miami attest.

And, no, we don’t know what Cosell is doing in a Fins uniform. But he couldn’t be much worse than this year’s squad, right? (The tape don’t lie.)
