Enjoy two cuisines at Moon Thai & Japanese

MENU

The restaurant provides two different menus, one with Thai dishes and the other Japanese. The Thai selections include miso soup, beet, tofu and egg salad, Lad Na (flat rice noodles with pork or beef) and duck with five Chinese spices. The Japanese option offers amaebi tartar (avocado and black caviar), Moon kimono (spicy tuna), sushi bar appetizers, sushi or sashimi combinations and Moon rolls.

ATMOSPHERE

The dining room is dimly lit with soft pink, blue and yellow overhead lights. From every corner of the restaurant, there is a view of the bar surrounded by Asian-themed sculptures and paintings. Customers can choose booths or tables, or if the weather permits, dine outside.

FAVORITE FOOD/PRICE

I chose the house salad ($8) as my appetizer. Made with fresh greens, tomatoes and topped off with a choice of either peanut or ginger dressing. I chose ginger, and it was the perfect companion to the salad. My entrée was vegetable fried rice with tofu ($10). The dish is a combination of egg, diced peppers and spices, which add an exotic and fresh taste. A wedge of lime served with the rice gave it an unusual flavor. The tofu was toasted and crispy, with a hint of olive oil and peanut sauce. The fried rice dish also can be ordered with chicken, beef or pork.

REASON TO GO

The wide variety of choices from both menus will likely satisfy most appetites. The restaurant uses only organic vegetables and wild catch seafood.

SERVICE

The food was delivered to the table within reasonable waiting time. Servers were polite, friendly and attentive.

NOISE LEVEL

It can get quite loud during dinner hours, particularly on a Friday night.

KID FRIENDLY

Many families were dining with children of all ages, from babies to teens. There is a kid’s menu, which includes the staple mac and cheese to satisfy a finicky child’s taste.
