Earth Day 2018: Ways to celebrate, honor the earth in Palm Beach County


Earth Day is every year on April 22. The intention is to raise awareness about the planet we live in and to demonstrate support for environmental protection.

Party for the Planet

The Palm Beach Zoo’s party will be filled with educational, engaging and fun activities for the entire family. Eco-friendly crafts and animal encounters. Music and face-painting. Activities are free with admission. First arrivals will receive seed packets from Herman’s Garden Seed Donation Program.

Where: Palm Beach Zoo & Conservatory Society, 1301 Summit Boulevard, West Palm Beach

When: Sunday, Apr. 22, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Great American Cleanups

Thousands of volunteers throughout the country are participating this weekend in efforts to clean up and improve their local communities. 

Where: Several locations throughout Palm Beach County. For the full list and details, click here and scroll down.

  • To volunteer, fill out, scan and email the registration form to the volunteer coordinator, or print and bring with you the day of your project.

When: Some events start as early as Friday, April 20. It’s free to volunteer, but you must register.

Earth Day in the gardens

The Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens, which has more than 250 species of rare plants in the gardens, is hosting a free Earth Day celebration. Activities will include interactive learning stations, exhibitions and tours of the gardens.

Earth Day and Arbor Day Celebration

Get an up-close look at some wild reptiles (including Sammy the Alligator) at Wellington’s annual Earth Day party, where you’ll find a couple of food trucks and family activities. Plus attendees can pick up free seedlings, free reusable bags and native shrubs.
