Spirit Airlines plans to launch new non-stop service this spring between Seattle and Ft. Lauderdale.

The Broward County-based airline said it will start offering flights between the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and the Seattle–Tacoma International Airport. The flights, which begin on April 12, will be seasonal, the company said.

The Ft. Lauderdale-to-Seattle service is one of 11 new routes announced by the airline on Wednesday.

Spirit had previously announced it would add service to Columbus, Ohio and Richmond, Virginia early next year.

“We are excited to celebrate our growth in these key markets and offer even more ultra-low fares to some of our guests’ favorite destinations,” Mark Kopczak, Spirit Airlines’ Vice President of Network Planning, said in a statement released by the company. “Whether it’s connecting Tampa to the west coast, bringing new routes to Seattle/Tacoma, or adding another international destination from Baltimore/Washington, we know these new, nonstop flights will bring more friends together and allow more families to go on vacation.”

The announcement of the new routes comes as pilots for the airline prepare to picket in Florida today in a push to resume contract negotiations, according to the Spirit Master Executive Council of the Air Line Pilot’s Association.
