Softball: Wellington rolls in battle of ranked teams


Taylor Koos was 3-for-4 with four RBIs, leading the third-ranked Wellington softball team to a 15-0 rout of fourth-ranked Royal Palm Beach on Friday.

Bailey Cain added two doubles and four RBIs and freshman Kate DeSimone struck out four in in four innings to pick up the win for Wellington.

No. 2 Palm Beach Gardens 10, Pembroke Pines-Pines Charter 0: Crystal Grimaldo was 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored and Brooke Matthews went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs as the Gators (16-4) routed the Jaguars in Pembroke Pines.

No. 5 Oxbridge Academy 11, Orlando-Lake Highland Prep 1: Lianna Mullins pitched a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts as the Thunderwolves routed the Highlanders in Orlando.

Boca Raton 12, Spanish River 9: Emma Morgan homered as the Bobcats held off the Sharks (7-5) in Boca Raton.

American Heritage 5, West Boca Raton 2: Jenna Whipple was 3-for-3 and Chloe Nadler and Alison Rodriguez each doubled and drove in a run to help the Stallions (7-5) defeated the Bulls in Delray Beach.
