Softball: No. 4 Royal Palm Beach improves to 9-2


Jamie Tino struck out 13 and had a hit and two RBIs at the plate, leading the fourth-ranked Royal Palm Beach softball team to a 5-2 victory over West Boca Raton on Thursday night.

Nicole Hayslip was 3-for-3 with an RBI and Megann Linardos added a hit for Royal Palm (9-2).

Cardinal Newman 19, King’s Academy 1: Eliza Herbst hit a grand slam as the Crusaders (5-7) routed the Lions in West Palm Beach

Santaluces 16, Atlantic 2: Alycia Celia was 4-for-4 with a home run; Abby Callo went 2-4, and also homered, and Mandy Garcia was 3-for-4 with a double as the Chiefs (5-6) routed the Eagles in Lantana.

Olympic Heights 2, Spanish River 1 (11): Gillian Lapis drove in the game-winning run as the Lions (8-4) edged the Sharks. Kelsea Friend was 3-for-5 with a run scored and Kaitlyn Cunningham struck out six for Heights.

Seminole Ridge 8, Palm Beach Central 5: Megan Froelich struck out 14, leading the Hawks over the Broncos. Taylor Pennica had three RBIs and Ashley Markle drove in two runs for Seminole.
