Softball: No. 1 Palm Beach Gardens routs No. 3 Wellington


Haley Hofman was 3-for-4 with a home run, leading the top-ranked Palm Beach Gardens softball team to a 10-2 rout of third-ranked Wellington on Tuesday night in Wellington.

Ashley Fitzhugh was 3-for-4 with three runs scored, including a homer, and two RBIs for the Gators (19-5).

Wellington fell to 17-5 on the season.

No. 5 Oxbridge Academy 13, Fort Lauderdale-Calvary Christian 3: Josie Foreman was 4-for-4 with three RBIs and Caridad Estes went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, leading the Thunderwolves to the win in Fort Lauderdale.

Dwyer 6, No. 6 Park Vista 5: Casey Goguts was 4-for-4 with a home run and Skyla Johnson went 2-for-4 with an RBI as the Panthers upset the Cobras (12-6). Nicole Vumbaca had a hit and two RBIs for Vista.

No. 7 Olympic Heights 4, Suncoast 1: Peri Spector doubled and Kelly Montilla was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored as the Lions (19-4) defeated the Chargers in Boca Raton.

Benjamin 11, Fort Lauderdale-Pine Crest 10: Alex Cohen had two doubles as the Buccaneers got past the Panthers in Fort Lauderdale.

Kings’ Academy 6, Highlands Christian 0: Jordan Winters struck out three as the Lions (8-9) shut out the Knights in West Palm Beach.

Glades Day 9, Lake Worth Christian 2: Jayci Congelton homered and drove in two runs as the Gators (7-7) handled the Defenders in Belle Glade.
