Softball: No. 2 Jupiter stops No. 1 Palm Beach Gardens


Ally Costa struck out eight in a complete-game performance leading the Jupiter softball team to a 9-5 victory over Palm Beach Gardens in a battle of the area’s top two teams in Palm Beach Gardens.

Ashley Goebel was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for the second-rankled Warriors (8-1), who handed the top-ranked Gators (6-1) their first loss.

Spanish River 7, No. 7 Boca Raton 0: Liz Gollins struck out 15 and had a hit, two RBIs and scored a run, leading the Sharks (4-2) to the upset of the Bobcats in Boca Raton. Leanne Rosenbusch was 4-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI for Spanish River.

Cardinal Newman 6, Benjamin 4: Lillie Rodriguez was 2-for-3 with two RBIs as the Crusaders (4-5) held off the Buccaneers in West Palm Beach.

John I. Leonard 15, Palm Beach Lakes 0: Kayla Bruno was 3-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored and struck out 10 on the mound to lead the Lancers (2-5) to the rout of the Rams in Greenacres. Elizabeth Rambo tripled and drove in four runs.
