Boys soccer: John I. Leonard opens with rout

Christopher Diaz scored a hat trick, leading the John I. Leonard boys soccer team to a season-opening 9-1 rout of Seminole Ridge on Wednesday in Loxahatchee.

Luis Molena added two goals, and Juan Cardonza contributed three assists for the Lancers.

Park Vista 2, Royal Palm Beach 1: Matthew Betancourt and Yan Toro each scored a goal, leading the Cobras (1-0) over the Wildcats in Royal Palm Beach.

St. Andrew’s 6, Fort Lauderdale-Westminster Academy 1: Alejandro Gomez scored three goals and Piruz Hashempour added two goals as the Scots (1-1) rolled over the Lions in Boca Raton.

Lake Worth 3, Glades Central 0: LaShawn Brown, Phil Joseph, and Javier Caberera each scored a goal as the Trojans (1-0) shut down the Raiders in Belle Glade.

Boynton Beach 4, West Boca Raton 0: Kymani King scored two goals and Joe Hancock and Carl Joseph each added a goal, giving the Tigers (1-0) the win over the Bulls in Boca Raton.

Benjamin 5, Pahokee 0: Christian Baldari scored two goals and Cameron Murphy added another as the Buccaneers (1-0) handled the Blue Devils in Palm Beach Gardens.

American Heritage 2, Fort Lauderdale-St. Thomas Aquinas 1: Alex Guichard scored the game-winning goal on a free kick as the Stallions (2-0) edged the Raiders in Delray Beach. Doug Phillips added a goal on an assist from Nick Lodovico.

South Fork 2, King’s Academy 1: Christian Johnson scored a goal, but the Lions edged the Bulldogs late Tuesday in West Palm Beach.
