Baseball: No. 5 Wellington rolls to victory


Tyler Retzler had three hits, leading the fifth-ranked Wellington baseball team to a 9-3 victory over Woodward Academy (Ga). on Tuesday in Wellington.

With the victory, the Wolverines improved to 4-1 on the season.

No. 7 Spanish River 8, Coral Springs-Coral Glades 4: Jorel Ortega was 2-for-3 with three runs scored; Jake Fishman went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored, and Nick Perez was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored as the Sharks (4-1) defeated the Jaguars in Boca Raton.

Benjamin 6, Jupiter Christian 4: TJ McKenzie was 2-for-3 with a run scored and Jack Keiser went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored to lead the Buccaneers (2-5) over the Eagles in Palm Beach Gardens.

Boca Raton 3, Olympic Heights 2: Matt Weber had a hit and scored a run to help the Bobcats (3-2) edge the Lions in Boca Raton. Jason Richman struck out five in four innings for Heights.

Glades Day 12, Pahokee 2: Christian Ellison and Eduardo Guiterrez each had a hit and two RBIs as the Gators (5-2) routed the Blue Devils in Belle Glade.

Somerset Canyons 4, Coral Springs Christian 1: Mike Materatski was 2-for-3 with a double as the Cougars defeated the Crusaders in Boynton Beach.
