Price is the second straight Ohio State player to win the honor as Pat Elflein won the 2016 Rimington Trophy. It’s the first time in the Rimington Trophy’s 18-year history that it went to players from the same school in consecutive years. Elflein was the first Buckeye to win a national individual award since 2008.

Price, a senior captain for the Buckeyes, beat out West Virginia’s Tyler Orlosky and LSU’s Ethan Pocic for the 2017 Rimington Trophy.

A first-team All-Big Ten selection, Price slid over to center from guard for the 2017 season. It was a flawless transition as he anchored the Buckeyes’ offensive line.

Ohio State offensive line coach Greg Studrawa explained how valuable Elflein and Price have been to the Buckeyes program in an interview with Land of 10’s Austin Ward.

“To snap a football with somebody about 4 inches from you that wants to take your head off? You also have to want to do that,” Studrawa said. “It’s way deeper than talent. With Pat and Billy, both of those kids made a commitment to do it, and that’s key. That’s a hard spot. I’ve tried a lot of guys and moved a lot of guys into that position, because it’s absolutely the most critical on the offense in my opinion.”
