Nick Saban praises Jeremy Pruitt: ‘He will do a great job at Tennessee’

Jeremy Pruitt is the new head coach at Tennessee and will now try to turn around a Volunteers program that is still searching for the stability and prominence that hasn’t been seen since the glory days under Phillip Fulmer.

There is one coach that thinks Pruitt is the right man for the job: his former boss Nick Saban.

“He is hard-working, dedicated and organized with exceptional knowledge of the game,” Saban said. “He is an excellent recruiter who does a great job developing players and earning their respect. He will do a great job at Tennessee and we wish him the best.”

Pruitt served as Alabama’s defensive coordinator during the past two seasons under Saban, helping the Crimson Tide finish No. 1 in scoring defense and No. 2 in total defense in 2017. Prior, he had turned around the defense at Georgia under Mark Richt.

With the success that Kirby Smart, who was also a defensive coordinator under Saban, at Georgia this season, it would be no surprise to see Tennessee become a contender sooner than later in the SEC.
