Michigan State commit Thomas Kithier ruled ineligible for senior season

The Michigan High School Athletic Association ruled on Thursday that Michigan State recruit Thomas Kithier is ineligible to play for 180 days, bringing an end to his senior basketball season at Clarkston High School, per The Detroit News.

Kithier, a 6-foot-8 power forward, played his first three years of high school basketball at Macomb Dakota before he decided to transfer to Clarkston for his senior year.

The report states that the ruling was a result of complaints filed by Macomb Dakota High School. Kithier would have been able to play his entire senior season, but the school refused to sign Kithier’s educational transfer form. This, in turn, made him ineligible. The charge was that Kithier’s transfer was “athletically motivated.”

Despite losing his senior season, Kithier is still expected to play for the Spartans in the 2018-19 season.
