Kicker Ricky Aguayo building his own legacy at Florida State

After a slow start to his season, sophomore kicker Ricky Aguayo is slowly building his own legacy at Florida State by putting the football through the uprights on a consistent basis.

Since missing his first 2 field goal attempts of the season, Aguayo has converted 10 consecutive field goals, including two made attempts in Saturday’s thrilling game against Miami.

“He’s being very consistent,” Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher said to Orlando Sentinel correspondent Curt Weiler, “He has good steps, good timing, keeping his head down. His foot is hitting at the right distance from the ball.”

The young kicker has big shoes to fill, as he arrived on campus to take over the starting position from his older brother, Roberto Aguayo, who left Tallahassee as college football’s most consistent kicker. Ricky struggled to find his own identity on the football field, but his recent success have been a blessing. FSU has failed to score touchdowns (4)  in the red zone this season, and Aquayo has bailed out the offense numerous times with successful field goal conversations.
