Chase Winovich announced he was coming back to Michigan for his senior season on Wednesday. It was great news for the Wolverines, but a Spartan tried to bring the mood down.
Former Michigan State linebacker Riley Bullough trolled Michigan and Winovich on Twitter shortly after the announcement.
In his initial announcement, Winovich quoted the old Michigan rally cry of “those who stay will be champions.” Bullough disagreed, writing “honestly those who stay there prolly wont be champions but hey.”

“Those who stay will be champions”
After much deliberation, I have decided to forego the NFL and come back to Michigan for one last season. It’s my absolute honor to represent this university for one more season after everything it has done for me. Time to work pic.twitter.com/l8pb1Z4Chq

Bullough played for Michigan State from 2013-2016, going 3-1 against the program’s in-state rival. The Spartans also won two Big Ten titles during Bullough’s career, in 2013 and 2015. Michigan has not won a conference title since 2004, but that’s something the Winovich and the Wolverines are hoping to change in 2018.
Winovich, a defensive end, finished 2017 with 73 tackles and 8.5 sacks. Bullough went undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft but appeared in three games with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
