Former Florida State star Lawrence Timmons regrets leaving the Steelers via free agency

The bizarre story of former Florida Star linebacker Lawrence Timmons desertion of the Miami Dolphins takes another turn on Sunday. A CBS Sports report via the Palm Beach Post stated that Timmons was in Pittsburgh the week prior to him leaving the Dolphins before their season opener in Los Angeles.

Timmons was in Pittsburgh after the Dolphin players left Miami ahead of Hurricane Irma’s arrival to the South Beach community. He showed up at the Steelers practice facility while the team was preparing to play the Cleveland Browns, and was given access to watch the game from their sideline that week. A highly unusual occurrence, since Timmons plays for another team.

The Dolphins instructed their players to report to Oxnard, California by Tuesday of game week in preparation to play against the Los Angeles Chargers on that Sunday. Timmons practiced for three days before disappearing on Saturday. The team’s front office has put him on indefinite suspension, which can last for a maximum of four weeks.

Timmons played 10 years with the Steelers before signing with Dolphins last offseason. He was apart of the Florida State football program for three years before entering the 2007 NFL Draft. The Steelers drafted him with the 15 overall pick in the first round.
