Barnett just finished his 11th season on the Spartans’ coaching staff, and he has been the team’s co-defensive coordinator for the past three years. He coaches the secondary in addition to his other duties.

As a player, Barnett was a star defensive back with the Spartans from 1986-1989 and then had a seven-year NFL career. He had a coaching stop at Cincinnati before coming back to East Lansing.

Barnett is not the only Big Ten assistant who might head to Florida State. Taggart also spoke with Michigan offensive line coach Greg Frey earlier in the week, according to 247Sports.
