A refreshing ocean breeze that accompanied Sunday’s picture-perfect weather produced strong rip currents that kept Palm Beach County lifeguards busy assisting swimmers and sent one teen to the hospital in critical condition.
The unidentified teen was pulled from the water by bystanders at Lake Worth Municipal Beach shortly after 5 p.m., said Capt. Albert Borroto, a spokesman for Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. It was unknown how long he had been in the water. He was taken to JFK Medical Center in Atlantis, Borroto said.
