On the same day that water officials placed more of the county in the first phase of a drought, the skies opened and some towns surrounding Palm Beach received as much as more than one inch of rain in just 24 hours.
The rain is welcomed because meteorologists with the National Weather Service said Palm Beach County hasn’t entered the first phase of a drought this early in the dry season since November 2010, the same season when the county entered a never-before-seen exceptional drought level.
