The ground-penetrating radar survey of what might be a mass grave from the 1928 hurricane did in fact find three large areas that likely are mass graves, the investigating firm’s report says.
But, the survey of the cemetery at Port Mayaca said, “it is impossible to determine from GPR data alone how many individuals may have been interred and under what conditions. It is not possible to determine the accuracy of historic and anecdotal sources that reference 1,600 bodies.”
