Vehicles flee after pedestrian hit fatally on 45th Street

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in finding a 2001-04 Toyota Sequoia with front-end damage, after a 58-year-old man was killed trying to cross 45th Street early Sunday.

The pedestrian, identified as Leroy Charles Call Jr., was trying to cross 45th from south to north near its intersection with Jeffrey Avenue at 6:45 a.m., a PBSO spokeswoman said.

Two vehicles were traveling westbound on 45th Street, side by side. The vehicle within the center lane struck Call with the front passenger side of the vehicle. The second vehicle was within the inside lane of travel.

Call was thrown toward the sidewalk curb of the outside lane.

Both vehicles continued westbound away from the scene. Call was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center where he died.

Anyone who saw the incident is asked to contact Investigator Doerr at 561-681-4538.
