When first lady Melania Trump showed up at a Super Bowl party Sunday near West Palm Beach wearing a patriotic-looking jacket, some may have assumed she was rooting for the New England Patriots.
That we don’t know, but we do know the red, white and blue jacket is from a company called Amiri.
The jacket, which Melania wore buttoned up with white pants and high heels, goes for about $2,100, according to the company’s site, mikeamiri.com.
Another site says the jacket is made from “lustrous royal-blue silk-satin” and is trimmed with red and white leather “to sharpen the silhouette and define your shoulders.”
The designer, Mike Amiri, has been described in a recent article as embodying the “rock n' roll luxury lifestyle.” Another site says Amiri’s influence was the grunge rock culture from Los Angeles “executed at a luxury level.”
The first lady attended her husband’s traditional Super Bowl watch party at his Trump International Golf Club in suburban West Palm Beach on Sunday before the couple headed back to Washington.
While the president wore his familiar suit and red tie, it was the first lady’s sporty jacket that drew attention.
The jacket’s colors are similar to the Patriots, who played in the Super Bowl (and lost) to the green-and-black clad Philadelphia Eagles, but we don’t know if Melania is actually a Patriots fan.
We do know that President Donald Trump is close friends with Patriots owner and part-time Palm Beacher Robert Kraft and Pats quarterback Tom Brady, so he may have been leaning New England.
But then again, Eagles owner Bob Lurie also has a place in Palm Beach, so maybe the president was being ... bipartisan.
Either way, the president left the party around halftime and headed back to Washington. But he did acknowledge the Eagles’ victory, congratulating them on Twitter for “a great Super Bowl victory!”
