Top spring break spots? Florida, of course

Florida has long been a spring break hot spot, and it remains so according to new rankings.

According to Project Know, four Florida cities are among the top 10 spring break cities based on Instagram #SpringBreak posts. They are Miami Beach, Orlando, Panama City and Fort Lauderdale. By the same measure, the top 10 spring break beach cities were almost all in Florida. They are: Miami Beach (1), Panama City Beach (2), Daytona Beach (4), Clearwater Beach (5), Miramar Beach (9) and Fort Myers Beach (10).

Fort Lauderdale was ranked as a high alcohol destination because 16 percent of social media #SpringBreak posts in the city featured alcohol, according to Project Know. Miami came in third on the alcohol scale, but it was also ranked number one for the most Instagrammed #SpringBreak spot.

Project Know looked at more than 250,000 Instagram pages to see where college students were going and what they were doing on spring break.
