Average game attendance was down, but the overall number of baseball fans was up by about 13,000 during this year’s 32-game spring training season at Roger Dean Stadium.
Four additional games added to this year’s schedule was part of the reason for the increase. Two games played by the New York Yankees, who had not played at Roger Dean since 2006, also helped, said General Manager Mike Bauer. The 7,000-seat Abacoa stadium is the spring training home for the Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals.
