Palm Beach Gardens resident is new head of Honda Classic charity board

The opportunity to boost medical care for children and grow the game of golf brought Joe Steranka out of retirement.

The Palm Beach Gardens resident, who was the chief executive of PGA of America for seven years before leaving the post in 2012, was named Tuesday to the unpaid position of president of the board of directors for the Children’s Healthcare Charity, the charitable arm of The Honda Classic. The annual event is held in February at PGA National.
