There was little in Camilo Villegas’ recent history to suggest he was primed for success at this year’s Honda Classic. He missed the cut in his last two events, did no better than a tie for 18th in 25 appearances last year and recorded his last PGA Tour victory at the Honda in 2010.
But after a slow start Thursday, the Jupiter resident and Bear’s Club member posted two birdies and an eagle in his final four holes to post a six-under-par 64 for the first-round lead of the $6 million event at PGA National.
