Dolphins’ defense is run aground: Defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle claimed that Miami’s run defense wasn’t as bad as it seemed against Tampa Bay, allowing 140 yards on 37 carries for a 3.8 average. Coyle pointed out that two of the runs accounted for 55 yards. It’s the kind of selective math done only by the losing side, which got us thinking.
First, we’ll mention that the Dolphins’ run defense ranks 25th of 32 teams at 119 yards per game, after ranking 13th last year at 108.4.
