Tuesday’s Miami Dolphins OTA workout and two more to follow this week are considered voluntary for players, which means that defensive tackle Randy Starks will not be fined or otherwise held accountable for skipping the sessions.
The Dolphins placed the franchise tag on Starks, who is entering his sixth season with the team, and he signed it to guarantee a 2013 contract of $8.45 million. Still, the veteran is taking a pass on organized practice until mandatory mini-camp June 11-13 as a message that he would prefer to work out a long-term deal.
