Florida Atlantic University’s road to stadium sponsorship once was blocked by protesters and, as of now, is barren, but athletic director Pat Chun believes the Owls at least are on the right path toward securing dollars that recently slipped away.
FAU announced in February that it had secured $6 million in naming rights from the GEO Group, a Boca Raton-based prison firm whose CEO attended the university. But concerns over the firm’s track record led to protests, negative publicity and, ultimately, the scrapping of the deal.
