Central Florida’s Blake Bortles could be first in-state player drafted

Though Florida State has potential first-rounders in receiver Kelvin Benjamin and defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan and possible second-rounders in safeties Lamarcus Joyner and Terrence Brooks, the highest in-state draft pick this week could come from less heralded Central Florida.

The Knights’ Blake Bortles is widely considered one of the top quarterbacks this year, along with Louisville’s Teddy Bridgewater and Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel. Bortles has the size (6-foot-5, 235 pounds) of a tight end, but questions about his mechanics could cause Bortles to drop out of the first round.
