Jerry West wasn’t interested in any challenges during practice near the end of his Hall of Fame career. So when a pesky, energetic guard named Pat Riley would hound him, West would shoo Riley away.
“Pat was tenacious,” West said Wednesday. “When we practiced I would tell him all the time, ‘Go beat the hell out of (Gail) Goodrich. I’m tired.’’’
