There were fireworks and stars-and-stripes baseball jerseys. It was Memorial Day weekend at Bragan Field on the lyrically named Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville, where the Jacksonville Suns — the Class AA affiliate of the Marlins — play their home games.
The holiday marks the game’s real, if not calendar official, start of summer. Sometimes, though, a slump hits and the grind of a season begins long before July and August roll around. So it goes for Jacksonville outfielders Christian Yelich and Jake Marisnick, two of Miami’s top prospects.
