Suitcases in hand, a woman in April boarded a Greyhound bus in West Palm Beach with the hopes of ending up in San Diego, where she would visit her mother and look for a job.
Instead, she soon found herself in upstate New York, where she was beaten, held hostage, allowed to sleep only four hours a night and frightened into having sex with her alleged kidnapper, according to a complaint filed in federal court in New York.
