On a sunny weekday morning, the 32,000-square-foot lawn at the waterfront’s Meyer amphitheater — “the ellipse” — doesn’t exactly approximate a verdant meadow. Instead, it’s a dry patchwork of white and black sand and green and yellow and brown grass.
At the end of this month, the city will resod, at a cost to taxpayers of $21,000. It’s the second resodding this year. In fact, the city budgets for two annually.
