The city has sent the Palm Beach County School District an official notice signifying its resolve to try to open its own municipal-run charter school.
In a letter of intent sent to the district’s charter schools department, the city said it seeks “to improve the education being provided” to students in West Palm Beach by opening its own elementary charter school. The letter projects enrollment of up to 600 students but notes that the city has not decided on a location yet for the school.
