A tugboat named Pocahontas will become the county’s newest artificial reef Friday morning and will be named for a local high school student who lost his life in a vehicle accident exactly a year ago.
Palm Beach County will sink the 110-foot boat in 80 feet of water about two miles northeast of Lake Worth Inlet. Pocahontas was built in 1944 in Canada and will be sunk in an area where pieces of the old Royal Park Bridge, several barges and a small tugboat currently reside.
