Hopes that flood insurance price hikes would be delayed died last week in Congress, but two Florida lawmakers are pushing to make it easier for private insurers to step in when federal coverage is too costly.
A proposal to attract more corporate interest is expected to be discussed Tuesday during a news conference in Clearwater hosted by Rep. Larry Ahern, a Republican whose district includes parts of Pinellas County and Sen. Jeff Brandes, R-St. Petersburg.
