Eight candidates — seven Republicans and one Democrat — are vying for three vacant seats on the South Florida Water Management District’s governing board.
The district is responsible for flood control, water supply and restoration throughout the 16 counties south of Orlando. The governor appoints its board members, who serve for four years with no compensation. Savannah Sams, a spokeswoman for Gov. Rick Scott, said no date has been set for making appointments.
