Boxing promoter Don King has won the most recent legal battle in the 8-year-old fight over a failed deal to develop his shuttered jai alai fronton in Mangonia Park.
The Florida Supreme Court on Thursday tossed out a 4th District Court of Appeal ruling that found an oral agreement between King and EB Acquisitions, a former development company, legally extended the due-diligence period on a 2004 written contract for the sale of the fronton property. Attorneys for EB Acquisitions, which is now defunct, had pointed to the oral agreement and alleged that King was required to return a $1 million deposit held in escrow.
