Bob Brown, the second in command at the South Florida Water Management District, has resigned to become the manager of the Lake Worth Drainage District.
Brown, 55, leaves the district today having worked in a variety of positions since 1987, when he came to the district after several years at the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. In 2011 he was appointed assistant executive director, earning an annual salary of $155,000. Brown begins his new job on Feb. 19, where he will earn $180,000.
