Even with an announcement that a city board would delay its vote on whether a gun shop and shooting range could open less than 700 feet from historic homes, residents from Flamingo Park, Grandview Heights and other nearby communities packed city hall to rally against the proposal Thursday.
Earlier in the day the project’s applicant requested a one-month delay from the city’s Zoning Board of Appeals, which is deciding whether to waive the requirement that a shooting range be at least 1,000 feet from a residential area. The gun shop, but not the shooting range, is allowed by city code.
